She was a second mother to many.

Selma S.

Thunderbolt - Selma S. “Pee Wee” Weil, 90, passed away at Hospice Savannah, Inc., Saturday, December 31, 2016 after an extended illness, surrounded by her most important thing, family.

Pee Wee was born October 9, 1926 to Mary K. and Louis Sachs in St. Augustine and moved to Thunderbolt in 1940 and spent the rest of her life in her beloved Thunderbolt.  She was married to Frank Weil in 1949.  Her home was always an open house to everyone; she was a second mother to many.  Pee Wee made people laugh and smile everywhere she went.  She was employed as a dental assistant, worked for the Housing Authority and as a Restaurant Manager at Teeples Seafood.  One of the founders of the Thunderbolt Garden Club, Pee Wee was a member of the Thunderbolt Museum Society and the American Legion Post 184 Auxiliary.  She did volunteer work for the U.S.O., American Cancer Society, and American Red Cross and donated to numerous charities.

Surviving are sons, Walter, William, Arthur (Phyllis), daughter, Roxanne Misterka (Brian), sister, Raye Kaplan, grandchildren, Aaron Weil (Emily), Hannah Weil, Claire Weil, Mary Ashley Misterka, Michael Misterka, Max Misterka, Eli Joiner, and great granddaughter, Sydney Rose Weil and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 6, 2017 at Bonaventure Cemetery.

Special thanks to the amazing staff of Hospice Savannah, Inc. and caregivers and friends, Alicia Williams and Lisa Grandy.

In lieu of flowers, family request donations to Hospice Savannah, Inc., P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.

It's been over thirty five years since I've seen her, but I will always remember how Pee Wee made me feel. She had the ability to bring joy and laughter to everyone and I'm so grateful that I had the chance of knowing someone so special. Sydney Barnes Reardon
